What is Reiki?

As a Reiki Practitioner, I took some time to consider if this healing modality would be suitable for me to learn and provide as a Muslim. I didn't feel comfortable on calling on the Reiki masters or making Reiki signs in the air over clients as it wasn't part of my culture, religion or teachings. Moreso, I couldn't be sure of their real origins I needed to be sure everything that came to me and through me was led by the Divine light.
I meditated on it and decided to go ahead and train. My Reiki teacher taught me that whatever I chose was ok as it was about the energy flow. Some may argue without calling on the Reiki masters how can it be Reiki? When I tried the traditional way it didn't work for me as per my husband who was my Guinea pig when I first started.
So next time without telling him I did it my way. I invoked the Divine to allow healing energy to flow through me to the recipient and asked for my hands to go where the Reiki needs to flow. I closed my eyes and allowed the energy to guide me. No signs no invoking anyone or anything other than what is already aligned with the Divine light. This time he felt the energy flowing from me to him and he entered a place of utter relaxation for the first time.

A colleague of mine posted the other day how she was able to use Reiki to remove glass shrapnel from a skeptic relatives eyes before she reached the hospital after being involved in a road traffic accident .
My colleague placed her hands over the relatives eyes whilst in the ambulance with her after ambulance crews confirmed she had substantial pieces of glass in her eyes after her car windscreen smashed during the car accident. With unknown damage this would cause long term my colleague continued to channel her energy over her relatives eyes to help relieve her shock and pain.
Her relatives eyes where burning and streaming with pain and as the water was released my colleague noticed bits of glass at the corners of her relatives eyes as they made their way out.
By the time they arrived at the hospital my colleague had a hand full of glass in a blood stained tissue. Once x-rays were organised and her relative had been seen by the eye specialist they confirmed there was no glass left in her eyes and there would be no long term damage to her eyes.
