The best things are right under your nose!

Sometimes, what we are looking for is already growing quietly right in front of us. We just haven’t recognised it yet.

If I hadn’t been told about quince, I honestly think I would have disposed of the fruit growing in my garden without a second thought; especially because Japanese quince isn’t something you simply pick and eat like an apple.

I had been looking for quince because I remembered hearing that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ spoke about its benefits, including its connection with digestion, grief and the heart.

I searched for somewhere to buy some. I eventually found it at a reasonable price, but they wouldn’t deliver to Birmingham. So, eventually, I surrendered it.

Never mind. Perhaps it’s simply not meant for me.

And then yesterday, I was walking around my garden, tending to some bushes that had become a little wild.

Under one of them, I noticed little clusters of green, apple/pear-shaped fruit.

I ran inside and shouted to my husband:

“The bush I planted as an ornamental shrub two years ago has fruit on it!” 🍐

A little Google investigation later… Japanese quince!

And I just stood there thinking about how often we do this in life.

We search.

We strive.

We try to make things happen.

We look outside of ourselves for what we believe we need.

And sometimes, what we have been asking for has already been quietly growing in our own garden , placed there long before we even knew we would need it.

What a beautiful reminder to soften, surrender and trust.

Perhaps Divine provision doesn’t always arrive in the way we expect. Perhaps sometimes it has been there all along, waiting for the moment we are ready to notice it.

The Divine, the Universe, God, Allah-All That Is-provides in ways far beyond what we can see or understand.

We don’t always have to force, chase or figure everything out.

Sometimes we can simply tend to the garden we have been given, surrender what we cannot control, and trust that what is meant for us will find us- often in the most unexpected ways.

Sometimes the blessing is already there.

We just haven’t recognised it yet.

SubhanAllah. What an incredible little gift and reminder. 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽
